You use pipe cleaners for the "skeleton"?

Hm, I really want to try this needle filting-thing out but I was thinking of using wires. (I hope that's the right word, if not: [link] < that's what I'm talking about)
They're stronger than pipe cleaner, you think it could work out well? : P
